INIT ESPORTS partners with the AMA and Twitch for two-wheel sim-racing

  • INIT ESPORTS and American Motorcyclist Association sign Letter of Intent to develop AMA-recognized esports national championship competitions

  • Partnership with Twitch will see esports championship action broadcast over the popular streaming service in addition to athlete recruitment

Lewes, Delaware, USA, 15th May 2020 – INIT ESPORTS announces two significant partnerships that will accelerate the uptake and interest in two-wheel sim-racing esports. The partnerships will see the rollout of a number of two-wheel, esports championships and tournaments, which will bring big titles to players and fans and establish INIT ESPORTS as the premier promoter in this sector.

In line with the vision of INIT ESPORTS, the AMA recognizes the growing significance of esports on the world of motorcycling and that elevating select esports furthers the AMA’s mission to promote the motorcycle lifestyle. Towards that goal, INIT ESPORTS and the AMA have signed a Letter of Intent to plan, promote, organize and execute AMA-recognized esports events. INIT will manage esports championships representative of a number of traditional motorcycling disciplines that are organized to the highest standards, earning the winners of these events recognition as AMA eSports National Champions and AMA eSports National No. 1 plates.

James Holter, Chief Operating Officer at AMA said: “The AMA, which includes its chartered clubs, promoters and its members, has been organizing motorcycling activity in America since 1924. As motorcycling has evolved, the association has established new affiliations and partnerships with recognized experts in these new areas. Signing this Letter of Intent with INIT ESPORTS lays the foundation for such a partnership for the digital gaming landscape. In addition, these efforts create another channel to welcome more members of underserved communities and minority populations to participate in AMA events, both digitally and in the real world. While more riders are becoming gamers every day, we anticipate also turning many gamers into riders.”

The multi-faceted partnership with Twitch will see two-wheel esports championship action delivered over the popular streaming platform. In parallel, INIT ESPORTS will also work alongside Twitch in developing relationships with pro-athletes and sim-racers, including getting them signed-up and running on the platform.

Stefy Bau, Director and co-founder of INIT ESPORTS and three times Women’s World Motocross Champion said: “We are delighted to be delivering on our vision of bringing esports into the two-wheeled world through our partnership with the AMA. Strengthening this further, our relationship with Twitch will enable us to add value to the athletes that sign up to work with INIT ESPORTS going forward."
